Wiliot’s latest innovation, the WiliBot GenAI chatbot, is set to revolutionize the way businesses and consumers interact with the vast network of products connected to the ambient Internet of Things (IoT). By enabling “things to talk,” this groundbreaking technology opens a new dimension of communication where users can engage in natural-language conversations with the myriad products tethered to the ambient IoT.
Renowned as a pioneer in the ambient IoT space, Wiliot has unveiled WiliBot, a generative AI (GenAI) chatbot designed to facilitate seamless interactions with ambient IoT-enabled products. By marrying the powerful capabilities of generative AI with a rich repository of real-time data from the physical world, Wiliot is paving the way for businesses—and eventually consumers—to converse with the products they manufacture, source, distribute, and ultimately purchase.
“Ambient IoT and generative AI are increasingly symbiotic technologies,” says Wiliot CEO Tal Tamir. “While ambient IoT generates extensive data about everyday items, GenAI can decipher this data uniquely. In turn, GenAI thrives on vast datasets, and ambient IoT presents an unprecedented influx of data that platforms like WiliBot can leverage to describe products, materials, supply chains, and more.”
At the core of Wiliot’s technological ecosystem is its Ambient Data Platform, which utilizes stamp-sized, self-powered IoT Pixels. These Pixels, affixed to various items like products, packaging, containers, and pallets, communicate crucial information such as location, temperature, humidity, and carbon footprint to the Wiliot cloud for analysis.
Wiliot’s proprietary AI and machine-learning algorithms can then interpret supply chain events, automatically generating alerts or AI-driven responses that help businesses optimize and rectify their operations. For instance, these systems can detect when shipments of perishable goods or pharmaceuticals have been exposed to unsafe temperatures and prompt immediate corrective actions.
“While our foray into generative AI and the creation of WiliBot are relatively recent, Wiliot has long been at the forefront of harnessing AI and machine learning to derive meaningful insights from ambient IoT data,” Tamir elaborates. “With our Ambient Data Platform gaining traction among numerous companies, the demand for GenAI capabilities to further ease this transformation has been unmistakable. WiliBot is our answer—a real-world fusion of ambient IoT and AI.”
Wiliot is set to commence pilot testing WiliBot with select enterprise customers immediately, with broader implementation planned for late 2024 extending into 2025. During this pilot phase, businesses will leverage WiliBot to query their ambient IoT-integrated products and supply chains, asking questions such as: How fresh is this item? How did it arrive at the store? Which product should be stocked next and why? What is the carbon footprint of this product? What accounts for its high or low carbon footprint?
In recent collaborations with leading food retailers, Wiliot’s Ambient Data Platform has revealed that approximately 5 percent of food in the supply chain is lost, damaged, or spoiled before reaching retail shelves. Wiliot’s platform addresses nearly two-thirds of these issues, enhancing food safety, boosting customer satisfaction, and reducing costs. WiliBot now democratizes access to such valuable insights across various organizational layers.
Looking ahead, the convergence of ambient IoT and generative AI is poised to extend its benefits to consumers both in-store and at home via a suite of mobile applications. This will allow consumers to interact with their products, gaining insights into carbon footprints, material compositions, ethical sourcing, freshness, safety, and more.
“Wiliot’s Ambient Data Platform has already enabled companies to attain unprecedented intelligence about countless products,” Tamir concludes. “Now, more businesses—and soon consumers—will be able to inquire about and comprehend details about these products effortlessly. With WiliBot, we pose the intriguing question: ‘What if your products could talk?’ Thanks to WiliBot, now they can—in natural language.”
Built on a robust large language model (LLM), WiliBot leverages the groundbreaking potential of ambient IoT combined with GenAI computational power, heralding a new era of supply chain visibility and interaction.
