Tesla has long been a dominant player in the solar roof tile market, offering an innovative solution for those looking to integrate solar power seamlessly with their home’s design. However, the landscape might be shifting as Jackery, a growing competitor in renewable energy solutions, sets its sights on this niche market with its game-changing curved solar roof tiles.
During the CES 2025 held in Las Vegas, Jackery unveiled its latest venture into solar technology: the world’s first curved solar roof tile. This innovative design promises to replicate the traditional aesthetics of a tiled roof, providing homeowners a visually pleasing alternative to Tesla’s flat solar tiles. Emphasizing aesthetics without sacrificing performance, Jackery’s tiles aim to blend seamlessly into any roof design.
Jackery claims these new tiles are not only visually appealing but also built to withstand the elements. Weighing in at a solid 10 pounds each, these tiles boast the durability to endure harsh weather conditions including hail, snow, high winds, and extreme temperatures. With a cell conversion efficiency exceeding 25%, each tile can generate approximately 170W per square meter. The modular design facilitates easy installation and maintenance, allowing for custom configurations that fit a variety of roof layouts.
In terms of reliability, Jackery’s new tiles come with an industry-leading 30-year warranty, positioning them competitively against established players like Tesla. Although exact pricing details remain under wraps, the company suggests its offerings will be competitively priced.
Jackery’s ambitions extend beyond just solar tiles. The company introduced its Complete Home Power Hub, a comprehensive system that includes a stackable battery system akin to Anker’s offerings, an inverter, and a HomePower Hub capable of delivering 200A pass-through. This robust setup is designed to accommodate the energy needs of homeowners, including those seeking off-grid solutions.
The stackable battery system showcases the flexibility to scale energy storage, featuring options ranging from 7.7 kWh to 15.4 kWh per unit. Each inverter can support up to eight stacked units, reaching a maximum capacity of 123.2 kWh, enough to supply emergency backup power for up to a week.
Although Jackery has yet to announce pricing specifics, the company plans to launch its new offerings in the third quarter of 2025, collaborating with various installers and sales partners to bring this cutting-edge technology to consumers. Jackery, renowned for its battery solutions and portable power stations available through retailers such as Amazon, is now poised to challenge Tesla’s stronghold with its innovative approach to solar technology.
