Beijing, August 22, 2024 — China continues to assert its dominance as the world’s leading market for industrial robots, securing this position for the eleventh consecutive year, as highlighted by an official at the 2024 World Robot Conference currently underway in Beijing.
According to Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), China’s industrial robot production reached a remarkable 430,000 units in 2023. Impressively, the nation’s new robot installations over the past three years have constituted more than half of the global market, reinforcing its pivotal role in driving the worldwide robot industry forward.
Over the past decade, China has ascended as a global powerhouse in robot innovation and development, experiencing substantial growth. Xin emphasized the country’s advancements in key areas such as bionic perception, cognition, and control technologies. These innovations are propelling the industry to new heights, positioning China as a leader in these sophisticated technologies.
By July 2024, China had secured more than 190,000 effective robot-related patents, representing about two-thirds of the global total. This patent milestone underscores the nation’s commitment to solidifying its technological superiority within the realm of industrial robotics.
In line with its ongoing advancements, China is accelerating the “Robot Plus Application” initiative, aimed at integrating robots across diverse industries. This initiative has dramatically increased the number of robots per 10,000 workers in China’s manufacturing sector from 49 to a staggering 470 over the past decade, demonstrating the profound impact of robotics on production efficiency and innovation.
The five-day conference in Beijing, which commenced on Wednesday, boasts participation from 169 enterprises worldwide, including prominent players such as Tesla and Siasun. The event is a showcase of cutting-edge robotics, featuring over 600 robot units with more than 60 making their global debuts.
